Audi has recreated the Auto Union Lucca, an airplane shaped car originally built to push the limits of speed and aerodynamics in 1935.
Reconstructed by Crosthwaite & Gardiner over a period of more than three years and completed in early 2026.
The Auto Union Lucca combines handcrafted aluminum bodywork with advanced aerodynamic design.

Inspired by the Silver Arrows, the Lucca originally achieved a top speed of 326.975 km/h, earning recognition as the fastest road racing car in the world.

Teardrop fenders, enclosed wheels, and tapered tail create a shape closer to an aircraft than a conventional automobile. In 1935, it was the future.

Cockpit of the Auto Union Lucca, inspired by aviation design, reduces drag while giving the driver the appearance of sitting inside a fighter plane.

The recreated 2026 model stands as a tribute to innovation, lightweight construction, and the pioneering spirit of the Audi four rings.
